Solid news judgment and careful planning have always been my strengths.
But even stronger is my ability to respond to breaking news by tossing out those careful plans.
Attached to the tabs here are some examples of how my team responded to the unexpected.
In each case, I rearranged staffing, assigned or re-assigned duties, clarified priorities, collaborated with other work groups or departments, communicated to all concerned and pitched in to do whatever needed to be done.
Reacting quickly and decisively is crucial to good newspapering. And making deadline.
My leadership style of calm assurance and ability to anticipate (and avoid) problems serves me well in these circumstances.
